In loving tribute
William Dana Powell
April 12. 1955 - August 23, 2023
The only son and second child to the union of William “Billy” Powell and Elaine Ida Powell, William Dana Powell was a brother, a father and a friend.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, William also known as “Pete” was deeply rooted to the old school way of Chicago. He had a big heart and a quiet but silky smooth demeanor.
William was easy to talk to, had a good ear for listening, and always had an enthusiastic and entertaining story befitting to the subject of at-hand. A gentleman’s man, stylish in old school attire for any occasion.
Schools attend by William in the DMV area included Jefferson Jr High School in SW, Lincoln Vocational in NW, Woodrow Wilson High School.
William married Pamela Chenault and born to their union had a daughter and later a son. Still young in life, their union was dismantled by the worldly struggles of life and so the family divided- east coast and west coast. Rest assured, it should be known that William loved his children with all his heart.
William was easy to talk to, had a good ear for listening, and always had an enthusiastic and entertaining story befitting to the subject of at-hand. A gentleman’s man, stylish in old school attire for any occasion.
William was like that of a whisper, quiet and mystical in nature - yet you knew he was there. You will be missed my brother by many. So very happy to walk in this life with you.
William is survived by a daughter, Brittany Powell, and son, William “Peezy” Powell; two sisters, Regina Powell and Beverly Powell- St. James; nephew, Julian Maximill St. James.
