Touck Young Rhie passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years old on September 1st, 2022 after a battle with bone marrow cancer. He was surrounded by his wife of 57 years, Chung Won Rhie and his son Tony Rhie.
Touck Young Rhie was born on January 27th, 1936, in South Korea.
After graduating Chung-Ang University Graduate School, he went on to earn a Master’s degree at The Hague in the Netherlands. He began his career at the American Embassy in South Korea, before accepting a position at the Voice of America in Washington, DC, where he worked for 35 years before retiring as Chief Editor of the Korean Service. He resided in Bethesda, MD for the past 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Chung Won Rhie; son, Tony; daughter-in-law, Eileen; and two grandchildren; Lena and Macy.
