Maria Zaslavskaia Obituary

Maria was born on November 20, 1934 in Tyup, Kyrgyzstan. She was one of 11 children.
Maria worked first as a midwife and delivered close to 500 babies before becoming Head Nurse at a preschool to be close to her sons, Nikolai & Vladimir. Maria worked at that preschool for 44 years.

She met her late husband, Vasily, in 1954, and after 11 days of courtship, they married and lived happily for 30 years.
Maria moved to live with her son, Vladimir, and his wife, Margaret, in Bethesda, MD in 1998. She helped raise their children, Sasha & Nicholas.  Maria welcomed all and liked to feed them with delicious plov and pelmeny. She loved to dance, knit scarves, hats and socks, she liked to bead, and she loved gardening. Maria loved to tell stories about her life, and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Maria touched the hearts of many with her warmth, delicious food, her honesty, loyalty and care. Until the end, she remained incredibly mentally sharp and maintained her humor and gratitude to everyone who helped her. She passed In peace and surrounded by family.
Maria is survived by her sons, Nikolai (wife Katerina) & Vladimir (wife Margaret), four grandkids - Roman (s. Manuela) Dmitrii (s. Lyudmila) Sasha (s. Shay) & Nicholas, and seven great grandkids- Nelly & Lena, Liza & Sasha, Jordan, Skylar & Luka.
