L. Ester Rivera

On May 6, 2022, our beloved mother, grandmother, sibling, cousin, aunt, and friend, L. Ester Rivera passed away. She was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala on December 1st, 1941. During the 1960s, she migrated to the United States, and began working as a nanny. She worked for various families over throughout the decades until she finally retired in the 2000s. She has been a resident of Takoma Park, MD since 1984, and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Silver Spring, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents (Maria and Jose Ricardo Muñoz), as well as her sisters, Luisa, Mercedes, and Elsa. She is survived by her siblings Ana, Ricardo, and Rigoberto Muñoz; her son Cisco Rivera; her grandchildren Annabel and Emmeline Rivera.
There will be a memorial mass on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 6pm, at the Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 920 11th Street NE, Washington, DC 20002. The viewing will be on Monday, May 16, from 5-7pm, at Philip J. Rinaldi Funeral Service, 9241 Columbia Boulevard, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Please be aware that masks are mandatory for the viewing, and there is a limit of 20 people in the viewing room at a time.
The burial service will be on Tuesday, May 17th, from 9-9:15am, at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906 (Section 23, lot 296, site 6). There will be a repass gathering following the burial service at 1109 Gresham Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904.
