Brunette Halaby Kazzi, loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother died peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Brunette was the beloved wife of Ezzat Kazzi for 45 wonderful years who preceded her in death in 2014.
Brunette was born on September 5, 1939 and came to the U.S. in her mid-twenties after
growing up in Amman, Jordan. She met Ezzat in Washington D.C. and eventually
married in 1969 building and enjoying an amazing life together in the Silver Spring area.
Not only a beloved wife, she was an incredible mother raising four children and a
significant part of a large extended family. A strong woman and partner, she managed
Ezzat’s home improvement business while also establishing and running a bakery of
her own. She was a very dedicated member of St. George Orthodox Church where she
served as a Choir singer, Arabic teacher, devoted volunteer and was quite a tenacious
bowler in the SOYO bowling league for years.
She eventually began a career as a cafeteria manager for Montgomery County Schools.
For over 20 years she passionately served countless school children and left a strong
impression on all that met her. Throughout it all, Brunette was quite the cook and quite
the hostess. She loved to throw parties that were filled with music, dancing, enough
delicious food to feed an army and plenty of guests. All were always welcomed with
open arms and never left hungry. The legends of her delicious cooking will live on for
years.
Brunette also had a passion for taking family trips and enjoying what the summers had
to offer. There were road trips to Canada, day trips to local points of interest and of
course, the annual trips to Ocean City, MD. She loved the beach and entertaining
guests on her vacation. She and Ezzat eventually discovered cruising where she
enjoyed many cruises with family and friends to exotic locations.
Brunette was the beloved mother of Tony (Cathy), Ramsey (Nicole), Claudine (Anwar) &
Samir; grandmother of Michael, Jason, Megan, Anthony, Sabrina, Aline, Dominic,
Amanda, Annastasia, and Olivia.
