On Thursday, January 4, 2024, Zouboulia Vrentzos of Silver Spring, MD passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Vasilios Vrentzos; loving mother of Eleni (the late Petros) Zervas, George (Soula) Vrentzos, and Nikos (Popi) Vrentzos; cherished grandmother ("Yiayia") to Christopher, Vicky (Michael), Litsa (Kevin), Lena (Achilleas), and Irene; and treasured great-grandmother to Alex, Gregory, Anthony, Niko, Leo, Melina, and Michaela.
Born on the island of Crete in Greece to Christodoulos and Vasiliki Markogiannakis, she was the youngest of eight children. In 1947 she married her husband, Vasilios, and started a family. Zouboulia and her husband eventually joined their children in immigrating to the US.
Zouboulia enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, tending to her garden, knitting, reading religious books, making people laugh, and made the best bread. Her greatest joy was being a Yiayia, as she was affectionately called by all who knew her. She believed deeply in God, and was renowned for her love and kindness.
