It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Richie Nicholson Pontious, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Richie was born on January 16, 1940, and was taken from us far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She leaves behind her devoted husband George E. Pontious Jr. of 64 years; her loving children, George E. Pontious III (Joni) and Michele Walsh (JB). Her grandchildren, Ashton (Sonny), Jordan (David), Nicole (Tommy), George IV, and Jack, great-grandchildren, Autumn, Jamison, Tucker, and Summer, were the light of her later years. Richie always had an unwavering love for her family and her strong devotion with the Lord. Her heart of gold touched the lives of everyone around her, always offering a listening ear, a helping hand, and words of encouragement. She was a best friend to many and had an infectious love for life, finding joy in the simple pleasures like enjoying a scoop of ice cream or a few with a banana split. Richie's faith, love, and generosity will be remembered and cherished by all who had the honor of knowing her. The loss of Richie will forever impact the lives of the many people she touched. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering love for all will be deeply missed but never forgotten. In this time of sorrow, we are eternally grateful for all of our wonderful memories, and find comfort knowing she is in the arms of the Lord, watching over all of us. Richie, may you rest in peace. Your love lives on in all of us. A celebration of Richies's life will be held at First Allied Church located at 14500 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20905. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 p.m., Burial will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park located at 12800 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20853. In Lieu of flowers the family requests a donation in her name to First Alliance Church, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
