On February 23, 2018, Dorothy “Dottie” Hackett of Annapolis, MD passed peacefully in her sleep. During her final days she was comforted by her family and a compassionate and caring staff at Casey House in Derwoood, MD. She is survived by her two children; Ed Hackett (Debby) and Ellen-Mary Beck (James), and her four grandchildren; Colin Beck, Shannon Aitken (Eric), Robin Hackett, and Ashley Beck. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Cdr. Edwin M. Hackett, Sr., US Navy (Ret.), who passed away in 1995.
Dorothy lived a long and active life. She was involved in many activities at Heritage Harbour where for many years she was on the welcoming committee and served as treasurer for the community dances. She enjoyed singing in the chorus and acting in the theatre and made many friendships at Annapolis Moose Lodge #296. Dorothy also was a loyal member of St. Mary’s parish in Annapolis.
A private memorial will be held at the Crownsville Veteran’s Cemetery for family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
