Salloum A Matar

Salloum A. Matar born in Alexandria, Egypt July 1933, passed away peacefully, September 22, 2017. He is predeceased by his parents Felomina and Amine Matar; as well as his sister Yvonne Matar.

Salloum is predeceased by his wife Therese S. (Otayek) Matar. He is survived by his four children: Amine Matar of Alexandria, VA; Nora Zohni and her husband Dr. Khaled Zohni of Grafton, MA; Gehan Youssef and her husband Samy Youssef of Alexandria, VA; Joe Matar and his wife Rola of Alexandria, VA. He has seven grandchildren: Dr. Myrna Zohni of Grafton, MA; Micheline Torchon and her husband Estyvens of Northborough, MA; Ramez Youssef and his wife Amy of Arlington, VA; Ronza Youssef, Danny Matar, Anthony Matar and Peter Matar all of Alexandria, VA. He has one great grandchild: Mia Therese Torchon of Northborough, MA. He is predeceased by a daughter, Linda who passed away in 1975.

Salloum's family describes him as strong, hardworking, loving, gentle, and a man of integrity. He loved his family and was deeply devoted to his beloved wife, his children, and all of his seven grandchildren. He treated everyone with kindness and compassion. His high standards and ethics defined who he was and he passed this on to his children.  He kept his promises and honored his commitments. He loved to travel and was self-driven. He had a big influence on everyone that came his way. His children and grandchildren always looked up to him; they adored him and will always cherish the special times he spent with them. He will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Service will be held at Saints Peter & Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church, 10620 River Rd, Potomac, MD 20854 on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 3PM.

Following the service there will be a lunch provided at the church in the reception hall. The family requests that you join them and celebrate the life of Salloum.

Committal service will be held in Massachusetts.
