Osidach,John M., Beloved Spouse, Stepparent, Grandfather, Son, Friend and Coach to many.  Age 71, of Potomac, MD., died at his home on March 13, 2016.  Survived by Regina Maguire Dwyer, his beloved spouse of 35 years, the following stepchildren and their children, Jeannie Dwyer Merritt and her husband, H. Nicholas Merritt, and their sons Thomas and Jack of Chevy Chase, MD, Thomas Dwyer and his wife, Lynn Frangione Dwyer, and their daughters Lucy, Grace and Rose of Wynnewood, PA, and Sarah M. Dwyer of Silver Spring, MD and numerous friends and players that he coached.  He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Osidach of Toronto, Ontario.  John was a graduate of  Humberside Collegiate of Toronto, Ontario and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he played varsity ice hockey and football.  He worked in the insurance and structured settlement industries in Toronto and  then, Washington DC.  Known as “Osi”, his unique spirit lives on through his family, friends and players.  John passionately coached  ice hockey in the Washington, DC area for over 40 years, first with the Chevy Chase Club and then the Washington Metros/Little Capitals hockey club.  He was a founder and served as owner and president of the Washington Little Capitals for years.  He was also the founder, original general manager and coach of the Washington Jr. Nationals hockey club.  John was instrumental in the development and growth of competitive ice hockey in the Washington DC area and the teams he coached were successful regionally, nationally and internationally.  Several of John’s players went on to play in top prep schools, junior leagues, the NCAA as well the NHL.  In addition, many of the players that John coached are now dedicating time to coach hockey teams as well.  John's coaching legacy is unrivaled.    A memorial service will be held to celebrate John’s life April 16th 12pm at Rock Creek Mansion.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to the John Osidach Memorial Scholarship c/o Washington Little Capitals, Inc., PO Box 2777, Ashburn, VA 20146, will be greatly appreciated.  Online contributions may be made at
